Carved in stone, yet deceptively alive – Lucerne’s world-famous Lion Monument has been impressing visitors from near and far for very many years. The imposing stone lion, however, is more than just a monument. Depending on your point of view, it can be seen as a commemoration, a work of art or a memorial and as a proud landmark of the city of Lucerne. The “Lion of Lucerne” is nestled in a rocky grotto in a charming park setting in Lucerne.  The Lion Monument is visited by around 1.4 million people every year, though few of them are aware of the tragic story behind this imposing work. 

Lucerne’s landmark is considered to be Europe’s oldest covered bridge. Built in the 14th century originally a part of the city fortifications, the Chapel Bridge runs from the New Town on the southern bank of the Reuss to the Rathausquai in the medieval Old Town, zigzagging as it passes the impressive Water Tower.

You will enjoy some free time at the famous Lake Lucerne and you can also go for a boat ride (not included in our price) if you wish to do so. Lake Lucerne is Switzerland’s fourth-largest lake, located in the center of the country. The lake is unusual because it has a very irregular shape, with many bends and turns and four arms. The shores of Lake Lucerne are partly formed by steep mountains like the Rigi and Pilatus, bordered by fabulous towns like Lucerne and Weggis, and are the site of Switzerland’s oldest history
